Preeti Nayak is an OPIRG board member and
did excellent work as the Alternative Welcome Week Coordinator in the fall of 2012. Her article
“Alternate Welcome Week 2012 A Radical Learning Experience” was published in
the Fall-Winter 2012-2013 issue of PIRGspectives.
Preeti
grew up in Mississauga and is a fourth year undergraduate student studying
Anthropology and Religious Studies. She will be starting an MA in the fall of
2013 at Goldsmiths, University of London, in a program entitled “Education:
Culture, Language and Identity.” She plans to pursue research in the field of
inclusive education and equity studies.
Preeti’s
interests include activism and community engagement, especially initiatives
which bridge academia with community development. She loves reading, music,
cooking, biking, travelling and writing. “I am also a sucker for dark chocolate
and good coffee!” she says.
Her
name means Love in Sanscrit. Preeti loves “OPIRG because it’s a community of
passionate people who want to make a difference--a very unique space!”
